Sheepskin white

This chrome-free white-tanned sheep nappa leather is available in 2 main thicknesses, medium and thick. The hide sizes are between 0.7 - 1.0 m². The flesh side is buffed, the hair side is smooth and dirt-repellent. The leather is adjusted in the after-greasing so that it can be glued well, but still has protection against the environment due to moisture fluctuations etc.. After processing the leather, it makes sense to treat the open surfaces with a suitable leather grease and to repeat this every 5 years, for example, during maintenance work. In organ building, this leather is used for medium to large bellows or sometimes also for valve coverings. The thin leather is used more as a cover strip.
This type of tanning makes the leather tear-resistant and therefore very suitable for wind bellows in organ building. Billing by area in m²! Please note our favorable quantity prices. We pass on some of our handling savings to you, which is why we recommend purchasing at least 5 m² at a significantly lower price per square meter.

The thickness is selected according to the size of the bellows, whereby thicker leather is also somewhat harder and only makes sense if the leather can move freely. The medium thickness is normally used for windchest float bellows up to a length of 1 meter. The thick leather is used for larger float bellows and large wedge bellows. For very large wedge bellows, the "strong PLUS" thickness is sometimes requested for the gussets. However, this thickness is naturally only available in small quantities. Therefore, the more stable and up to 1.5 mm thick soft cowhide in a light beige color should be used for large bellows. If you are looking for thin white leather, we recommend our thin lamb leather or the even thinner brown pneumatic leather.

If you want to produce the necessary leather strips yourself and chamfer them yourself, we recommend our leather chamfering device, a precise device for sharpening the leather edges, even on gussets or cover caps.

We offerleather strips chamfered on both sides from the above sheepskin in small rolls of 10 running meters in widths of 30, 40 and 50 mm. The price of such finished leather strips seems high. Please bear in mind that cutting, chamfering and assembling the individual strips requires a lot of work, even with machine support.

For large magazine bellows or float bellows, the somewhat thicker cowhide nappa leather in natural color and naturally tanned is also suitable.

NEW we can offer you gut strings with D=2.5 mm +. Ideal for bellows hinges on large wedge bellows. See also gut strings
